Strawberry-Banana and Honey Fruit Leather Tutorial

I've borrowed my friends dehydrator in hopes of creating some new and healthy snacks for my kids (and for me). I wanted to try my hand at homemade fruit leather and this is what I thought up. I just ate ALL of it, while I was waiting for the pictures to load to Blogspot, so I guess it's good.

Strawberry-Banana and Honey Fruit Leather (using dehydrator)

Ingredients

1 container of strawberries
1 banana
3 Tbs honey

Step 1

In a food processor or blender, blend the strawberries, banana, and honey until smooth. Taste to make sure it's sweet enough, if not, add more honey or sugar.

Step 2

Pour the strawberry-banana liquid into the fruit leather insert on your dehydrator, smoothing it out to the sides so it's an even thickness. About 1/4 inch thick. Turn the dehydrator on and let it dry for 8-12 hours. Peel off into strips, store in the fridge in Ziploc bags or an airtight container for 1-2 weeks. Or in the freezer indefinitely. Or eat it all in one sitting while you type up a blog post about it. =)

I want to try this! But- My dehydrator is actually a euro-pro toaster oven with a "dehydrator setting"... I wonder how that will work out (and I promise I will eat it all in one sitting because that is how I roll)

I, too, just borrowed a friend's dehydrator and I stumbled across your blog while looking for ways to use it. I made this fruit leather but had the worst time getting it off the insert. Or, when it peeled, it peeled in teeny-tiny sections. Any suggestions?

For all those who now want to buy a food dehydrator, I would suggest buying a dehydrator with a horizontal drying system. Because this drying system is the only choice for even drying such as this one: www.vitality4life.com/biochef-arizona-6-tray-food-dehydrator/
This is one of the best price-performance food dehydrators you can buy!
