Cranberry BBQ Chicken (FREEZER MEAL)

Cranberry BBQ Chicken

This makes a great freezer meal, too! Just combine raw chicken drumsticks, onion, celery, cranberry sauce, and BBQ sauce in a Ziploc freezer bag, and freeze. To reheat, just thaw overnight in the fridge, then pour into a baking dish and bake as normal.

Ingredients

Chicken drumsticks
1/2 cup chopped onion
1/2 cup chopped celery
1 can (16 oz) whole-berry cranberry sauce
1 cup BBQ sauce
Salt/Pepper

Step 1

Place drumsticks in a baking pan. Season with salt and pepper.

Step 2

In a bowl, combine the onion, celery, cranberry sauce, and BBQ sauce. Mix well and pour over the chicken.

Step 3

Bake, uncovered, at 350 degrees, for 35-40 minutes or until chicken is cooked through. You can serve over cooked rice or as is.

Looks delicious! And I love easy, quick freezer meals!! How would this taste with chicken breasts? I know that sometimes changes the combo of flavors, but my family is not big on bone-in chicken.
It will work just fine with breasts! I've done it. :)

Think you could just pour all of this in a crock pot?? I am not good at remembering to put stuff in the oven in time to eat. But I can remember at noon to start the crockpot. lol
I think pouring it all in the crockpot would work fine! :)

so you cook it before you freeze it, because it says reheat...or fix it all raw and then cook, I must be dumb as a rock, can't get my head around this

do you know how many calories this meal is?

Dear Virtuous,
I started a long testimony for you but lost the message, lucky for you.
I enjoy reading your blog and remembering the years you are living now--true gifts from God.

The face of "virtuous" changes as we age. The perfect gives way to poor health, losses, and heartaches--yes,even for devoted Christian wives and mothers.

With heartache and disappointment comes unexpected opportunities to help others, thrive and change.
God gives new and different kinds of gifts, an evolution of suprises that for me are defined as "a person with the gift of God's grace".

At 58 my identity is defined by what others see or learn as I walk in faith with Jesus. I've found that only He can judge me as virtuous, even as I too have loved the scripture you quote.

Enjoy life's lessons even if they seem unfair and unexpected. God does not cause sadness or ill health. Nature, fate and mankind do. He is always our advocate and strength.
It my opinion that you are on the right path but that only God can judge us as virtous or righteous.
Already you are showing God's love. You'll find many different ways to express that through the years.

"Retired" but always "renewed"

I made this as freezer meals a couple of weeks ago and just cooked one of them tonight. I love it! I used boneless skinless chicken breast and cut it into strips before freezing. It was so delicious!
